COURSE DESCRIPTION

The International Yoga Instructor Course (IYIC) 200 hours is specifically designed based on a few decades of indepth study into the science and art of teaching yoga. Empower yourself with our exclusive and unique approach to teaching yoga. Get the techniques correct and deliver them with utmost confidence, care and professionalism.

Who should attend this course?

  • This course is intended for anyone interested in learning to master his or her own body.
  • This course is aimed at beginners, so no previous experience with yoga is necessary.
  • After completing 150 hours of foundation course, you are eligible to continue with 150 hours of IYIC intermediate.

Date and Venue

  • Intensive (5 consecutive days) 8am-2pm
  • Semi-intensive (5 sessions once a week) 8am-2pm
  • Part-Time

Semi-intensive (5 sessions once a week) 8am-2pm

Part-Time

After successful completion of the course, participants shall receive an International Yoga Instructor Course (IYIC) Certificate and the IYIC transcript. This course is approved by the Ministry of Education.

CURRICULUM

Introduction to Yoga

Introduction to Yoga Philosophy

Course participants learn about true definition of Yoga, the streams of yoga and eight limbs of yoga (Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi).
Teaching Methodologies
Here we will talk about basic premises and rules of yoga practises. Participants have more understanding on instructor’s code of conduct and general class stucture.
Asanas / Postures

Base Sitting Asanas

Practise of awareness at the beginning of the class session.

Pawanmuktasana (Anti-Rheumatism)

Group of exercise which promote circulation of prana (life force) through all the nadis which can be performed by everyone, whether they are beginners or advanced practitioner.

Surya Namaskar

12 asanas being practiced in sequence form a dynamic exercise of loosening up, stretching, massaging and toning all the joints, muscles and internal organs of the body.

Every course participant will be given an assignment for subject or topic being discussed in class.

Shatkarma, Yoga Asanas and Pranayama

Shatkarma

The yogic text Hatha Yoga Pradipika mentions the importance of keeping one’s body clean. The text gives six practices for cleansing the body and to prepare the body and mind for higher practices of Yoga. These are called Shatkarmas. Here, we discuss two of the six cleansing techniques.

Shavasana, Yoga Asanas and Pranayama

Shavasana
practice
Shavasana is the most natural way of re-energising the body and mind. It is primary vehicle of the energisation process. Participants learn to instruct transition gracefully from movement to stillness in class. This practice is an absolutely must to be incorporated as part of our yoga asana practice. Classical asana yoga prescribe doing Shavasana at short intervals in between yoga poses (for short relaxation) and at the end of the session (for total relaxation).

Introduction of Pranayama

Pranayama Technique

Regular practice of pranayama detoxifies all the systems in our body. Here, we discuss and practise two pranayama techniques which are essential for beginners.

Every course participant will be given an assignment for preparing awareness scripts for real yoga class.

Yoga Asanas and Mudra

Introduction to Mudra

Mudras can be described as psychic, emotional, devotional and aesthetic gestures and attitude. Here we will discuss on four mudras. Yogis have experiences mudras as attitudes of energy flow, intended to link individual pranic force with universal or cosmic force.

Course participants are exposed to yoga asanas with variations and modification to enhance teaching techniques. Small groups are formed among participants to enhance the experiential learning.

Practicum and Evaluation

Class Observations and Practicum

Course participants are required to do class observations and practicum to graduate from the course.

Course participants will be guided through their assignments preparation and presentations throughout the course.

Every course participant is required to attend yoga classes as part of their learning syllabus.
