INTRODUCTION

While many of us are aware of the general health benefits Hatha Yoga imparts on the physical body, very few are exposed to its specific role on cardiovascular health. The heart health seems to be primarily affected due to various reasons in the current era such us demanding life responsibilities, unresolved emotional baggage’s, high calorie/ fast food intake, lack of physical activities, deprivation of quality sleep and many more. Inevitably, these many factors take a toll on the optimum functioning of the heart and circulatory system and manifest as various subtle heart health disturbances. Disturbances such as variation in the filling pressure of the heart, increased resistance in the blood flow, fluctuations in heart rate leads to many diseases if left un-intervened for a prolonged period of time. Some of the well-known diseases that stem out of theses disturbances are:

  • High blood pressure –Hypertension
  • Low blood pressure – Hypotension
  • Chest pain – Angina Pectoris
  • Heart attack – Myocardial Infarction
  • Fluctuating heart beats –Arrhythmias
  • Incompetent heart – Heart failure

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

General Cardiac Wellness is a 3-hour yoga workshop which serves to highlight the correct usage of yoga for maintenance of a healthy circulatory system. Come and learn some of the highly important scientific yogic techniques imparted to you by our wellness specialist to tackle and restore circulatory hitches. Yoga to rehabilitate the cardiovascular health focuses mainly on

  • Activating the 5 pranic currents throughout the body to enhance circulation.
  • Stretching various muscles at the chest, shoulders, and upper back regions to channel pranic flow to the heart region.
  • Inducing circulatory relaxation through-out the body through asana and pranayama
  • Inducing stress relaxation response in the body through guided meditation
  • Improving cellular functioning via thorough oxygenation using pranayama and meditation techniques.
  • Improving awareness of factors affecting the circulatory health by highlighting heart health tip.

What can you anticipate to learn in this 3-hour workshop?

  • A series of 5 well sequenced body posture/asana to boost circulation, to induce filling response, tone and strengthen the heart. (7 body postures in each series)
  • Stretch – Relax techniques to increase and decrease heart rate in a stepwise manner
  • Key insights on factors contributing to subtle heart disturbances and tips to tackle it.
  • 5 key breathing techniques to activate parasympathetic relaxation response system to regulate blood pressure and heart rhythms.
  • 2 meditation techniques specifically devised to release deep seated emotional stressors.
  • Knowledge of basic anatomy of the heart and circulation system.
